ABOUT longrunPT

About Trish, the PT behind it all

Trish’s journey began with the help of her dad, introducing her to the running community at the age of 8. At such a young age she loved waking up early to run races with her dad and his running club, volunteering at marathons, and collecting all the shirts and bib numbers that came along with it. Her dad has been a huge inspiration in her life which led to forming a career as a Physical Therapist, and watching many of her friends and teammates suffer from running related injuries.

Trish ran in XC and track throughout high school, then continued running recreationally throughout college. Trish’s education journey started at Kean University in Union, NJ where she received her Bachelors in Biology & Minor in Health Education. She then decided to pack her bags and head to Portland, ME to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of New England. She worked for 3.5 years at a fast paced outpatient orthopedic clinic, where she was limited by high volume, time, and treatments being dictated by insurance companies. After noticing a feeling of fatigue and anxiety within herself, she decided to make a change. It has always been her dream to help runners become resilient to injuries, so it only made sense to start LongRunPT.

TESTIMONIALS

Erin G.

“I suffered a running injury while training for a half marathon.  Just like any stubborn runner, I also ran that half marathon with the injury,  making it worse of course.  After seeing a podiatrist,  I was handed a diagnosis of posterior tibial tendonitis and along with it, a firm instruction not to run. After a long 3 months off, I got the all clear to run again, but to take it easy.

I was very concerned about re-injury,  especially since tendonitis is very tricky in that area. I reached out to Trish at Long Run PT for help.  I remember saying to her, "I'll just run 2 slow miles" and she replied "definitely don't do that". Right then and there I knew I could not be left to my own devices if I wanted to not get hobbled all over again. I signed right up for her running rehab program. The program was challenging and effective. When I first started it, I had some minor pain that Trish always made sure to follow up on, but that subsided quickly. She left herself open to any questions or comments I had about the workouts including how they were fitting into my schedule. She clearly communicated any changes/tweaks she wanted me to make as the plan progressed.  She got me back on the road and helped me safely train up pain free. To quote Trish, I'll end up a better runner at the end of this injury journey and I think I believe her now. She was an absolute joy to work with and I'm so grateful for her as a professional and just as a wonderful person. “

“So far, working with you I’ve learned the importance of rest and how to incorporate it; the payoff that comes with sticking to slow, easy runs (and how great it feels to intentionally go full blast after that!); that strength can be fun — who knew that!; and that having a plan makes getting out the door the days I don’t reaaaaally feel like running SO much easier! It’s been so fun and helpful and I look forward to trining every day :)”
